Was looking to see if there is a way to import your library info, smartlists, tagging etc into the media center I use, JRiver which is one of many that bypasses windows "direct" mode but I haven't been able to find out much. Ultimately it might come down to how much you like Itunes features, particularly the metadata you have built up in your library versus the SQ hit you are having running through windows processing (non WASAPI) mode. It sounds like Itunes might be better with an apple PC (big surprise). I realize that some of these features can be replaced by alternatives, but it's daunting to think about getting this full functionality in place with a new program. I use the Remote app on my phone to control playback from iTunes on my desktop computer. My library is almost entirely Apple Lossless at this point. My smart playlists also take into account metadata like Play Count and Last Played - and that history goes back 15+ years in my iTunes library.I make heavy use of iTunes smart playlists, based on my star ratings of individual tracks, and based on the ability to rate songs (1-5 stars) on my iPhone, and have those ratings sync back to my iTunes library when I sync my phone. We use multiple Airport Express units for wireless playback around the house using Airplay.
